Rosa Lee Brown, 94, of Portsmouth passed away on September 11, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents-Eddie Johnson and Maryland Garner, her sister Ella Mae Ross and her beloved son, Frank Spence. Mrs. Brown was a native of Portsmouth. She retired from the Norfolk Naval Base after working in the Hospital and Supply units for over 20 years.

She was a proud graduate of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in Portsmouth.  She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Baptist Church; as she was dedicated in doing the Lords work. She was a past President of the United Usher Board and a former member of the church choir. She also served on several church auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Improve Benevolent Protective Elks of the World; Beauty of the World Temple #40 and Gardenia Temple #720.

She is survived by her loving husband Zane Browne and her daughter Ella Duke (Wyman) of Chesapeake, three grandsons Curtis McDonald of Norfolk, Richard McDonald of Washington D.C., and Russell Scott of Portsmouth. She has four granddaughters Roslyn Durham (Andre), Audrey Harris (Tommy), Latonia Scott, and Chanta Scott; all from Portsmouth, and her step-daughter Marika Browne.  She also has eight great-grand-children Madison Durham, Jasmine and Myles Harris, Devon and Shecques McDonald, Fabian Aguson and three great-great-grandchildren Maya McDonald and Quantae and Lashay Scott.

A service of celebration of life will be held on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 11:00 am 728 Effingham St. Portsmouth, VA 23704, with visitation prior from 5-7pm, Monday September 24, 2018 at Corprew Funeral Home at 1822 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23704.
