**WALK THROUGH VIEWING GUIDELINES:
Visitors are encouraged not to display signs of affection, such as hugging or kissing while inside of facilities to decrease spread of COVID19 virus. We are asking our guest to comply with guidelines such as facial coverings, temperature checks and limit visits to 3-5 minutes. Only 10 visitors are allowed at a time in the chapel during viewing hours. Thank you for your cooperation.
Richard McArthur Stokes, Sr., the son of the late Willie Nelson Stokes and Cecelia Jones Stokes was called home to glory on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at his home in Baltimore, MD. He was born in Nottoway County, Virginia on March 15, 1944. Richard has three sisters – Margaret, Elizabeth and Lucille along with six brothers – Franklin, William, Alfred, Lawrence, Linwood and Alvin, all who preceded him in death.
Richard attended and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in Nottoway County in 1963. He graduated from Coppin State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also served in the United States Army for 4 years with a honorable discharge. Richard worked for the United States Post Office in Baltimore, MD for 40 years. One of his favorite things to do was visiting the casinos. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
He leaves to mourn two sons – Richard, Jr., of Baltimore, MD and Quentyn of Eastern Shore, MD; one brother – James Stokes; five grandchildren –Quatia, Quentyn II, Nareiya, Micah and Richard III; four great-grandchildren – Aubrey Stokes, Rylin Stokes, Naven Stokes and Micah Stokes; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
