Per family request, attendance for the service and graveside is limited to immediate family only. Paulette Virginia Bassett known as Paula was 75 years old and passed away on August 11, 2020. Paulette was born in Portsmouth, VA at Portsmouth Navy Hospital, graduated from I. C. Norcom High School, Norfolk State University, and Kee Business College, of Norfolk, VA where she received her BS degree. Paula taught in Portsmouth, VA and New Kensington, Pennsylvania School System. Paula’s love for computers prompted her to change careers, graduating with a degree in computer science. She was employed by Norfolk Navy Base,
Norfolk Air Station and Portsmouth Navy Shipyard Scott Creek, where she retired after 37 Years in 2013. She joined Celestial Baptist Church at an early age and serviced until she became ill in December 2019. Paula enjoyed serving in her Church Choir, Educational Ministry, Missionary Ministry and working as co-leader with the Jr. Missionary Ministry. Paula attended Sunday School and loved studying the word of God. She truly enjoyed working with the youth.

She believed in training a child, in the way they should go. Paula also was Past Matron, Eastern Star Mt Herman Chapter 19. She traveled to many countries and places in her younger years.
Paulette is survived by her sister Shirley Washington (Robert) of Windsor, NC. One brother-in-law Robert Gross of Hyattsville, MD. Four nephews, Robert Bobby Holloman III, Warren Gross, Walter Booker Jr. and Semein Washington. Five nieces Dana Dyson, Latrice Booker-Battle, Crystal Gross, Renatta Bradley and Antoinette Gross. Three uncles Rev. Charlie Carter, Deacon Tyrone Carter and George Carter. Six aunts, Annie Mae Walker, Katie Lee, Daisy Carter, Beatrice Lee, Mamie Silver and Shirley Carter. A host of cousins and friends. A very special cousin Rev. Steven White, who went above and beyond assisting Paula during her illness, we thank you.

Paulette was preceded in death by Parents Paul and Lucille Richardson, and siblings Jacqueline Yvonne Gross and Marchell Renee Booker. The family of Paulette Bassett wishes to thank her Caregiver Yvonne Harris, Sherita Pittman, Evilla Jones and Betty, a loving family member. Lillian Pearson, Paula’s neighbor and special friend.
