Our beloved Paul Lawrence Garland Sr., 75, departed to his heavenly home on the morning of March 22, 2020 at Maryview Hospital. He was born on October 15th, 1944 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Boysie and Nona Garland. He was the third of six children.
In his early years, Paul worked as a warehouse manager with over 20 years of service prior to his retirement in 2000. As most would call him, he was the “jack of all trades.” He was skilled and practiced many trades including automotive, culinary, custodial and landscaping. He ended his career at Children’s Harbor where he was held in high esteem by the staff and children.
Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Outside of spending time with his family and friends, Paul had a passion for fishing, yardwork and watching football.
He was predeceased by two brothers: Curtis Garland and Larry Garland.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Aletha Garland; three children, Kresha Garland, Alexis Garland, Paul Garland Jr. (Chimere); seven grandchildren; Britney Jacobs, De’Ante Garland, DeJanelle Garland, Daekwon Garland, Bryonna Garland, Gabrielle Garland, and Peyton Garland; and two great-grandchildren Dawn Garland and Omari Zeigler; three siblings: Ricky Garland (Frances), Lynette Lindsey, and Walter Garland (Gladys); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
