On Thursday, July 12, 2018, our dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Myrtle Jean “Pookie” Farrow fulfilled her Earthly goal at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Myrtle was born on April 2, 1946 to the late Clarence R. and Nellie L. Baysmore. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Farrow. She was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School. She retired from the Portsmouth Public Schools and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. She was a member of First Baptist Church South Portsmouth. Myrtle was the coordinator of The Perky Mall Walkers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Alicia McNeil (Arnold), Antonio Brickhouse (Tiffany) and Anitra Cutler (Terence). Her grandchildren Treyvon Brickhouse, Ashley McNeil, Raven Cutler and Anthony Cutler; one great grandchild Niylah Brickhouse; and one uncle, Jerry Bryant of San Francisco, CA.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Corprew Funeral Home from 12 noon – 8 pm. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11 am at First Baptist Church South Portsmouth, 1445 Centre Ave., Portsmouth, VA 23704. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, VA.
