On January 6, 2022, at Mary View Hospital Michael Ray Durham peacefully transitioned into his eternal resting place. Michael was born on October 10th, 1957, to the late Edward and Lucy Durham. Michael was raised in the Brighton Community of Portsmouth and educated in the Portsmouth Public School system. Michael worked many years with Asphalt Road Company and Leary Home Improvement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and having fun with his friends. He enjoyed playing cards, cheering on his favorite Football team the New York Giants, and listening to his favorite group Earth, Wind & Fire.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edward & Lucy Durham, his sister Evelyn Sessoms (Edward), two brothers, Vernon Durham and Bennett Durham, Sr. (Bessie), Nephew, Bennett Durham Jr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sisters, Ernestine Marshall and Dorothy Mincey (Minor). Nieces, Evelyn Comer (Tony), Patricia Tucker (Myron), Benee’ Coleman (AJ) Nephews, Carlton Sessoms, Andre Durham (Roslyn), Minor Mincey (Keyonte), Brian Durham, and a host of Great Nieces and Nephews.
Michael also leaves to cherish his memories his dearest friend Celestine Copeland (Lil Bit), her children and grandchildren. He especially like spending time with her grandchildren as they affectionally referred to him as Granddaddy.
