SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED
It is with great sadness that the family of Makhinohn E. Harrell announce her death on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the age of sixty-eight (68).
Makhinohn was born on April 23, 1953, to James Edwards Sr. and Bertha Mae Edwards. She was a retired nurse known for being continually active in the community. She showed a love for the quality of life of her family and others. Kena, as she was affectionately called, knew the medical history of her family. She was always available to give loving advice to improve one’s health. Kena was very family oriented, compassionate and supportive. Many shared how she helped in raising them and that she was there during the tough times.
Kena was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 12, 2014. She attended the Franklin congregation and most recently Churchland congregation. She loved Jehovah and Jesus Christ very much. Her love for God’s Word gave her a profound comfort and a hope.
She was a loving mother who spared no expense to care for her children and demonstrated an inner strength that was truly remarkable. In February 2021, she experienced the tragic loss of her beloved daughter Jakeeta (Jackie) Walden and soon afterwards, the loss of her dear son Anthony (Tony) Walden in June 2021. Unspeakable for any parent, yet Kena still focused on helping others as she carried her own deep pain. She will be sorely missed by all.
Kena is preceded in death by her mother Bertha Mae Edwards, father James Edwards, Sr., brother Roderick (Hot Dog) Edwards, sister Cherrell Edwards and maternal grandmother Nelli Coval.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loyal and devoted husband Bobby Harrell of nearly 40 years, daughter Raushanah Edwards (Bertie) whom she cared for and deeply cherished, granddaughter Makhinohn (Alex) Walden, and many more beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Furthermore, she will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Bobby Ray Edwards, Mahtorhee Curtis Bell, Gwendolyn (Wendy) Watkins (Joseph), Nugene (Sister) Freeman, James (Jimmy) Edwards, Jr., Kevin Edwards (Paulette), Theyartis Edwards (Julina T.), Suprina Edwards, VeVe Edwards, baby sister Tajuana (YoYo) Edwards, adopted sister/niece Bobbie (Tootie) Brown (Tony) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friend, Arlene Edwards.
Special thanks to everyone who was able to be there during this challenging time. She expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love from each and every one of you.
