Luevirtley Minggia, known to her family as “Lue”, was born in Nansemond County, Suffolk, Virginia, to Flossie and Wilbur Knight. She was raised by her Aunt Etta Pierce. Luevirtley was a faithful member of New Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, of Portsmouth Virginia, for over 40 years. She served in the ministry of the Beautification Club at her church. She worked for Powell Cleaners of Portsmouth. She started working for Haywood Cleaners, where she later retired.
Luevirtley was described as a wonderful, sweet, generous mother and a loving Grandma. She had a faithful heart toward Jesus Christ. She was also a faithful member of the church until her health declined. She was a lovely person who always greeted everyone with a smile.
Luevirtley was predeceased by her husband, Walter D. Minggia; and two sons-Curtis C. Minggia and Walter J. Minggia.
Luevirtley leaves behind to live out her legacy of faith: four daughters-Margaret Minggia-Hill (Roy) of Chesapeake, Vivian Minggia, Doris Sessom, and Mary Tolliver (Daniel) of Portsmouth; one sister-Essie Copeland of Windsor, Virginia; 11 grandchildren-Linda Dobbins, Tara Crew, Anthony Pitchford, Danny Minggia, Tamara Perry, Daryle Minggia, Danika Minggia, Tramel Minggia, Eumika Minggia, Neverah Minggia and Alicia Duffy; 36 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends.
