Lorretta D. Sykes affectionately known as Necie was born on May 5, 1960, to Mary L. Hampton and Bernard F Boone in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. She was the oldest of 7 siblings. Michael Boone, James Boone, Karen Boone, Cheryl Lindsay, Deborah Boone and Steven Boone. Married to Robert S Sykes Jr for over 40 years. She has 3 children Alysia Sykes, Robert Sykes and Jessica Sykes. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren Tanisha Sykes, Diamond Sykes, Rokeya Sykes, D’naeya Sykes and Taj Brown. She was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren Trayvon Sykes, Somaya Sykes, Tariq Faulkner, D’ziyah Atkinson and Laniah Atkinson.

She was and still is the cornerstone of our family. She always taught us to put God first in all things. Family was of the utmost importance to her. Through love she was a giving and avid supporter for anyone trying to better themselves.

She obtained her Associate of Science degree. Retired from Safeway after many years of service. She loved animals and nature. She often went for walks and took plenty of pictures and videos. She loved arts and crafts, from jewelry making to crocheting blankets. She loved to be innovative that way.

She lived a full life having the opportunity to live internationally and across the United States as a child and as an independent woman with a loving husband and family in tow. She was a natural beauty. She loved working with people, but you better come right and respectful otherwise she’d teach you some manners right then and there. She believed in following the rules and doing what’s right. She has departed from this earthly plane and gone on to rest in the glory of God. Celebrate her life, remember the memories and the good times and the love that was shared. That is what matters the most. Amen!
