Karen D. Campbell, 59, departed this life on August 16, 2018. She was the daughter of Geraldine B. Jenkins and the late Charles H. Jenkins. Karen was born in Portsmouth, VA on November 30, 1958. Upon graduation from Manor High School, she attended Norfolk State University and Anne Beauty Academy where she received her certification in cosmetology. In later years, she joined the American Legion Auxiliary Inc. Department of Virginia Attucks Unit 5, Norfolk, Virginia, where she held the position of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Historian, Chaplain, and 1st and 2nd District Chaplain for the Department of Virginia. Karen worked with the Juniors Department of the unit as well as devoting time to other committees. She was also named “Woman of the Year” for the Auxiliary in 2018. She was also a member of the American Legion Riders Attucks Post 5, Norfolk, Virginia.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Kristin D. Campbell; three grandchildren, Jailen Campbell, Xavier Campbell, and Teliyah Campbell; loving mother, Geraldine B. Jenkins; two devoted sisters, Pamela R. Toxey and Adrienne Y. Knight; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 1 pm to 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home, and a celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, 2 pm at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23704. Interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, VA.
