Jesse E. Kee Sr., (Bumpsy), 66, departed this life on March 5, 2016. He was born on April 26, 1949 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Mamie and Cal Kee. He graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, VA and was U.S. Army veteran. He retired as a Weight Handling Training Supervisor in 2007, with 36 years of loyal service from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Jesse was a faithful member of Olive Branch Baptist Church serving as a Deacon where the Rev. Michael Williams is the pastor, also served as a Deacon in his former church, Tidewater Bibleway Temple where Apostle Michael Rogers is the Senior Pastor.
He was predeceased by a brother, William Thomas Kee. He leaves to celebrate his homegoing; his loving wife of 44 years, the Rev. Myrtle J. Kee; sisters, Evelyn Scandrett (Cecil) of Daytona Beach, FL, Doris Johnson of Greensboro, NC, Frances Brown (Luke) of Portsmouth, VA; brother, Elder Bernard Kee (Pastor Mary Kee); devoted mother-in-law, Annie J. Stringer; sister-in-law, Mary Kee of Sharon, SC; a daughter, Wanda Patricia Holley (William Jr.) of Gates County, NC, Jesse Kee Jr. of Suffolk, VA, Derick A. Kee of Suffolk, VA; five grandchildren, two of which he reared, Jayla and Rayvon Riddick; and one great-granddaughter, Naudia Stallings; and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held on Thursday, March 10th from 7 pm to 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016, 11 am at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Virginia.
