COVID19 REGULATIONS FOR ATTENDING VIEWING AND CHAPEL SERVICES AT CORPREW FUNERAL HOME
Due to the recent increase in COVID19 cases, the governor of Virginia has established guidelines to reduce the spread of this pandemic virus. In an effort to keep our families, staff and facilities safe we are asking that all visitors comply with the following directives:
** Be subject to temperature checks, hand sanitation and social distancing of nothing less than 6 feet within the facility
**Facial coverings that cover the nose and mouth are required and must remain on while inside of the facilities for viewing and services
** Refrain from kissing, hugging, embracing others as your enter or leave the facilities to help reduce the spread of the virus
** If you are experiencing a cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not enter the funeral home at any time
** Chapel services are limited to 50 People, per Governor’s Executive Order #67 effective April 1, 2021
** During viewing hours, visitors may enter 10 at a time through a walk through process of viewing the deceased without lingering or having a large gathering
It is our sincere effort and duty to ensure that the families we serve will be safe and protected during this pandemic. Our facility is sanitized hourly to disinfect and safeguard against the spread of the COVID19 virus. May God bless you and your families and keep us safe in His care. Thank you for continuing to allow us to serve you in your time of need and bereavement.
Peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and friend Janice Shirley Vaughan gained her wings and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Janice was born in Brooklyn, New York to Ethel Mae Thomas and James Stanley. She loved the Lord and accepted Jesus at an early age. She not only talked about her love for Jesus, but also demonstrated her love for Him through her Christian walk.
Janice made her grand entrance into the world on May 3, 1962. She grew up in the Mt. Herman and Cavalier Manor neighborhoods. Janice was a product of the Portsmouth Public School System where she graduated from the Mighty I.C. Norcom High School Greyhounds in 1980. She later attended Hampton University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and graduated Magnum Cum Laude as an Accounting major in 1989. Janice received her Master’s in Business Administration “MBA” Degree in Management Information Systems in 1996. She also received Specialized Training Certification from the Defense Acquisitions University in 2012. Janice worked for the Department of the Navy up until February 1993. Janice was self-employed and started her own business venture “J.S. Vaughan Professional Business Support Services.”
Janice joined and attended The Fullness of God Ministry in Portsmouth, VA in November 2008 until her health declined and could no longer attend in person.
If you knew Janice, her smile always lit up the room. She loved cooking those good old Sunday dinners and holiday meals that we all loved. She loved her family dearly and was always the life of the party. Her son Ryan and her son Jason (deceased) along with her two precious granddaughters Katrice and Kennedy was her life, her heart, her world if you knew Janice.
Janice was predeceased by her parents, Ethel Mae Thomas and James Stanley and stepfather Edgar Thomas, Sr.; son Jason Smallwood; two stepbrothers, Leon and Rudolph Thomas; and one stepsister Hazel Vann.
Left to cherish precious memories and rejoicing in her peace son, Ryan Singleton; two granddaughters Katrice and Kennedy; one brother Arnold Thomas (Edna); two sisters, Mable Mason, Deborah Turner (Richard); four stepbrothers, Wayne Thomas (Gladys), Willie Thomas, Edgar Thomas, Jr., and Bryant Thomas (Alberta); two stepsisters, Judy Moffett (Nehemiah) and Betty Thomas (Vernon); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
