James H. Jones, Jr., 67 of Chesapeake, VA fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith and was called to eternal rest on Sunday, September 10, 2017. 

 James was born on December 9, 1949 in Norfolk County, Virginia to the late James H. Jones, Sr., and Delia Barco Jones. He is preceded in death by one brother Quentin Ray Jones. He was married to his loving and devoted wife, Annie for over 45 years.

 James excelled academically and graduated from Deep Creek High School in June 1968.  Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he completed his formal education at the US Air Force Sheppard Technical Training Center.  He successfully completed this challenging training and graduated as an honor graduate.  He also completed technical training in Engine Aircraft along with Airplane Inspector training courses and received recognition, not only for his superior academic achievement, but honored as one of the outstanding students in the graduating class.

 Upon completion of his specialized training, he was deployed to Vietnam and served his country honorably.  At the end of his Air Force obligation, he was employed by the Department of the Navy. James retired from the Department of the Navy, Aircraft Fleet Readiness Center, Norfolk, VA, after 38 years of dedicated service. He thoroughly enjoyed nature and was a great outdoorsman. James was a member of the Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church.

 He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and faithful wife, Annie, one brother, Elvin Jones (Emily), Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Deborah Jones, Richmond, VA; three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, two aunts, Dorothy Barco, New Jersey; Nora Harper, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family and friends.

 A viewing will be held on: Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA beginning at 12 o’clock noon until 8:00 p.m.  The Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017,
at 11:00 am, Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church – Chapel location, 884 Bells Mill Road, Chesapeake, VA.  
Bishop K. W. Brown, Officiating.  Interment will be in  Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, VA
