Ms.Hazel Nesbit Scott,92, was met by an angel of the Lord on June 20. 2023 at 2:05PM at Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, VA.
Hazel was born on Novmeber 20,1930 to the late Timothy Nesbit, Sr, and Susan Coley Nesbit of Norfolk, VA. She was married to the late Arland Scott and from the union they had one son, Sorano.

Hazel was proceeded in death by her parents: her husband: Arland: her brothers: Herman and Tomothy Jr,: her sisters: Charity Nesbit and Martha Hunter; and her longtime best friend Mittie Goldman.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving son Sorano ( Pochie) ; four grandchildren : Shaun L. and Sorano S. Scott both of Portsmouth Virginia, Arlando Whittaker of California, and Nicole Calvin of Germany; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, newphews, family members and friends.

At an early age, Hazel became a member of St. John AME Church of Norfolk, VA. After relocating to Portsmouth, she became a faithful member of New First Baptist Church Tayrsville in Portsmouth, untill her sickness overcame her. She loved serving the Lord and lovingly gave her time and gifts to different ministries in the church, especially doing artwork.
Hazel attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from the historic Booker T. Washington High School. She furthered her education at North Carolinia A&T University, receving a Bachelor of Arts ( BA) Degree. She continuted her education at Rutgers University in New Jersey, receving her master’s degree. There she taught in New Jersey Puclic School System. She later returned home, teaching in Norfolk Public School District until her retitement.

Hazel enjoyed life. Especially loving on children. She also loved traveling and toured many places during her life. Hazel will be truly missed by her family and dear friends.
