Hayward Scott, lovingly known as “Greenie” transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home on Sunday February 21, 2021. Hayward was a native of Portsmouth Virginia, he was  born on March 14, 1959. He served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army for four years. Hayward then found a new passion. He enrolled in school and obtained a trade as an auto mechanic. He spent many years dedicated to helping others, while making a living for himself doing so. Hayward was very proficient at what he did, as a result he met many people who later became good friends of his.

Hayward was a kind, gentle and loving man. He was known for spreading love. He had a laugh and smile that could light up any place of darkness. He loved music and loved to dance. He had a vigorous passion for “cutting a rug.” Many of Haywards friends would refer to him as “Disco” because of his compelling natural talent. Watching Hayward dance brought smiles to whoever witnessed him in the act and eventually they’d join him.
He was predeceased by his father Walter Majette and one of two brothers Calvin Lawrence. Hayward “Greenie” Scott leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful loving mother Willie Mae Harris of Portsmouth Virginia. Two children – Dominique Mathis of North Carolina and Hayward Scott Jr. of Maryland. In addition, he leaves behind his brother Russell “Bayteddy” Scott, his niece whom he loved dearly Shanea Banks, four great-nieces and great-nephews all of Portsmouth Va. As well as a host of cousins and friends who will all sincerely miss him.
I will bless the Lord at all times; His Praise shall forever be in my mouth. -Psalms 34:1
Poem
Little did we know that evening that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we’ll do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, a piece of us went with you when God called you home.
You left many memories, your love will be our guide, one day we will reconnect just on the other side.
Sometimes it’s hard to understand why certain things must be, yet there’s a reason for it all beyond ones power to see.
May it comfort us all to know that the one we love, has found eternal happiness and everlasting peace above.
“For He has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; He has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.”
Psalms 22:24
