Gregory Stanton Washington was born on November 19, 1957, to the late Nancy Gurley and Harold Washington in Brooklyn, New York.  Gregory was later raised in Portsmouth, Virginia.  He was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System.  Gregory worked at Burris Cold Logistics, CBN as a cook, and Givens Trucking and Warehouse where he retired in 2019, after working there for 20 years.

 

Gregory was a great father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend.  Anyone who came in contact with knew he was a good, genuine guy.  He loved to cook and his favorite football team was The Washington Football Team, formerly known as The Washington Redskins.  Gregory departed this life on Friday, September 17, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Gurley, father Harold Washington, brother Daniel Gurley, and sister Louise Artis.

 

Gregory leaves to cherish his memories his children-Gregory Washington, Sr., (Hubrenia) of Suffolk, VA, Natasha Brown (Kenneth) of Portsmouth, VA and JaQuida Chisholm of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters-Michele Boyd and Regina Taylor.  He also leaves to behind four grandchildren-Jakima Chisholm, Kennedy Brown, Gregory Washington, Jr., and Legend Lee; a special aunt-Thelma Williams, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
