Gilbert “Butch” Keene of Portsmouth, VA passed on Tuesday, December 19 th , 2023. Butch was
born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles & Rosa Keene on July 19, 1949. He met and married
Juanita Buffaloe and to this union one son was born.
During Butch’s career he worked for Brown, Jones and Swain Charter Bus Companies,
Portsmouth Public Schools and retired from his childhood dream job as a Greyhound Bus Driver.
He was a faithful and devoted member of Third Baptist Church where he drove the church bus,
sung in the choir, ushered, participated in the Andrew Brothers Men’s Ministry and was a prayer
warrior.
He will live on in the memory of his loving wife, Juanita, son, RaShawn (Millicent);
granddaughter, Idayiana (Michael); great-grandson, Monti; sister, Teresa Keene
A viewing will be held from 2 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, December 28 th , 2023 at Corprew Funeral
Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23704. The homegoing service will be held on
Friday, December 29 th , 2023 at 11:00 am at Third Baptist Church, 461 Godwin St,, Portsmouth,
VA 23704.
