Garland was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late Vivian Esther Wray Sexton and Ernest Battle on June 22, 1940.He earned his wings on March 28, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Louise Wray, his Mother Vivian Esther
Wray Sexton, Father Ernest Battle, Daughters Ellen L. Wray, Athelia O. West, Sons Darin L. Wray, Marcus E. Wray.

He was employed by Whitening Turner Construction Company as a Foreman for 27yrs he also helped build Harbor Place in Baltimore, worked for a Naval Base in Annapolis, Maryland. He was a forklift driver for 5yrs with Union701. He was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, he loved to cook and play his lottery numbers, street numbers and buy his tickets. He also truly enjoyed being with his family.

My Father was a hard worker & wanted what was best for his children he loved us unconditionally he was loving and always had us in his heart, and he will always be in our hearts God couldn’t have given us a better Father I miss talking to you already you brought happiness in my life, each day. I will miss you forever! God went to prepare a place for you, and he had to come and receive you for his kingdom you are at peace you’re in God’s Care We Love You Too Infinity Above & Beyond!

He is survived by two daughters; Vivian A. Wray, Stacy I. Wray of Portsmouth, VA. one so; Dr. Jason M. Wray (Dr. Jacqueline Wray) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, two sisters; Ruth Summers of Atlantic Beach Florida, Shavanne Hunt of Newberry, Florida, four brothers; Cornelius Wray (Cheryl Wray) of Portsmouth, VA. Clarence Wray (Lucille Wray) of
Belton, Texas, James Wray, Nathanial Wray of Portsmouth, VA, his fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grands, one great great grand, also his
Aunt Corleen Taylor (Sam) & a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and his Lifetime Friend Lawrence (Nappy) Brown, his Faithful Friend: Carlos Prettyman his Best Supervisor for 27yrs, of Baltimore, MD. And Sherawn his number 1 Rent Lady CEO, Daniel Whitt his care provider all from Baltimore, D. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
