Due to the recent increase in COVID19 cases, the governor of Virginia has established guidelines to reduce the spread of this pandemic virus. In an effort to keep our families, staff and facilities safe we are asking that all visitors comply with the following directives:

** Be subject to temperature checks, hand sanitation and social distancing of nothing less than 6 feet within the facility

**Facial coverings that cover the nose and mouth are required and must remain on while inside of the facilities for viewing and services

** Refrain from kissing, hugging, embracing others as your enter or leave the facilities to help reduce the spread of the virus

** If you are experiencing a cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not enter the funeral home at any time

** Chapel services are limited to 10 People, per Governor’s New Order and Mandate effective Monday, December 14, 2020

** During viewing hours, visitors may enter 10 at a time through a walk through process of viewing the deceased without lingering or having a large gathering

Gail Brown was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 25, 1951. She passed away from cancer at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC, on January 7, 2021.

Gail graduated from I.C. Norcom High School, Tidewater Community College, and many other institutions resulting in various documents of achievements such as certifications, licenses, degrees, and accomplishments, including a Cosmetology license and a degree in computers. Both after and during her studies, Gail put time and effort into an array of activities.

She was a lifelong learner and was always picking up a new skill, accomplishment, or degree. Gail was a creator at heart – from handmade afghans to free-hand drawings, she needed to create. Gail was also a collector; She was a collector of art, bingo prizes, stories, good laughs, and experiences. Also, Gail enjoyed the company and conversation of her friends and family.

Although Gail had some rough days during her 5-year fight with Breast Cancer, she had far more good days and more so throughout her life. She spent a lot of her time doing the things that she enjoyed. Gail enjoyed her favorite games and shows. She enjoyed the conversation and company of her beloved friends and family. In her last days, she appreciated one of her most cherished activities, spending time with her daughter.

Gail is now united in death with her mother, Louise Howard, and her sister, Joan Bryant. Remaining to cherish her memories include her daughter, Robin Cowans; son-in-law, Ricky Cowans; brother, Wendell Frits Howard; two Grandsons, Darren Brown and Devin Cowans; four great-grandchildren: Amaya, Darren Jr., Deion, and Jada; four nieces: LaVonya, Janelle, Tyra, and Keisha and other beloved relatives and friends.
