Evangelist Alberta (Clyda) Gray age 89, of Portsmouth Va. went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 24, 2020. Alberta was born on June 26, 1931 to the late Ernest L. Waters, Sr. and Clyde B. Waters in Yeatesville, NC.
She attended Portsmouth Catholic School.
Evangelist Alberta Gray was predeceased by her son Willie Gray (Jackie Gray): two grandsons; Michael (Boo) McCormick and Timothy Moore; five sisters: Eula Ray Peele, Lorena Ross, Marsha Goldberg, Isabelle Waters and Vandle Lee Howard; two brother: Ernest L. Waters, Jr. and Henry Waters.
Evangelist Alberta Gray accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zinia Holiness Church for many years, where she served as a church secretary, treasurer, Sunday school superintendent, missionary, evangelist, bible study teacher along with exhorting and preaching the word of God. She loved to sing spiritual hymns. Her favorites were: “Jesus Is on the Main Line.” “I know It Was the Blood” and “Precious Lord”. She also loved to read her bible, pray and spread the good news of the gospel.

Left to cherish her memory are: her loving husband Bruce Gray Sr. of 71 years, four sons: Bruce E. Gray Jr. (Mary), Timothy Gray of Portsmouth, VA., Michael L. Gray (Katrina) of Chesapeake, VA., and Anthony L. Gray of Portsmouth, VA., two daughters: Clyda Bennett (Jesse) of Portsmouth Va. and Teresa Marshall (Benjamin) of Charleston, SC., and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
