Elsie was born in Perquimans Co. North Carolina and was brought to Virginia when she was only 4 years old. Her parents were Elihue and Carrie Overton. Virginia was her home until the day she passed. She never regretted being here. She especially loved Portsmouth. She was educated in the Portsmouth public school system. In her earlier years, she was a live-in housekeeper. Afterwards, she was a stay at home mom raising her children. Elsie had a pet peeve concerning her name; she always wanted to be called Louise and no one ever would. Elsie had great affection for her family, and you could tell when she put you in a tight bear hug. There probably isn’t one family member who could escape her tight grip, and we tried. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Elihue and Carrie Overton, and siblings Billy, Willie, Peggy, Bobby, Edna, Gladys, and Emma; a niece and nephews.
Elsie leaves to cherish her memory, her children Beverly Pitts, Paul Harvey, and Nathaniel Harvey. Her sisters, Mary Casterlow and June Eaton. Two grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
God Has Called You Home
God called, you heard and answered the call. You went to soon for us, but the perfect time for Him.
Now you are free of all pain and in the loving arms of God with your family.
