Edward Vincent Wright entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 16 in Escondido, California at the age of 66.  He was born in Norfolk County, West Norfolk on January 18, 1955, to the late Edith Mae Wright Word.  He was raised by loving parents, James Eugene Wright, Sr. and Maxine Lashley Wright.

Vince got an early Christian beginning at the First Baptist Church in West Norfolk.  He attended Douglas Park Elementary School and graduated from Churchland High School in 1973.  He went to Albemarle Elizabeth City College.  During his time in the United States Army, he toured in Germany.

Vince enjoyed basketball but loved baseball.  He played for three semi-pro teams: Ivor Tigers, Chuckatuck Trotters, and Portsmouth Blue Jays.

Vince was employed locally at General Electric where he met and married the beautiful, spirited Vanessa Adair Wright of Portsmouth.  To this union, three children: DeVonne Barnes, Renetria Barnes Hooker (Milfred) and Vincent Wright Sr. (Jennifer of Suffolk), six grandchildren: Demetria, DeVonte, Mikala, Tavion, Vincent Jr and Vanessa.

Vince is survived by sisters Lisa Wright Lawrence (Samuel), Birmingham, Alabama and Pamela L. Wright Holloway (McKinely), Suffolk, Virginia; brothers Reginald Andre Word, San Diego, California and James Eugene Wright Jr. (Lucia), Portsmouth, Virginia; and an abundance of family and friends.

Vince is preceded in death by Catherine Elizabeth Wright (grandmother), Edith Wright Word (mother), James Euguene Wright Sr. (father), Maxine Lashley Wright (mother), and Lawrence Wilbert Word (brother).
