April 28, 1952 - May 13, 2019
On Monday, May 13, 2019, the Lord called home our love one, Edward James Parker Jr. “Sam,” after a long battle with cancer. Edward was born April 28, 1952 in Norfolk, VA to the late Edward James Parker, Sr. and Helen L. Parker.
He attended Norfolk Public School System. He retired from E.L. Hamm Co. as a painter. He loved fixing and building things. He could fix anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Helen L. Parker; three brothers, James E. Parker, Floyd Parker, John T. Parker, and one sister, Lois Christine Hilliard, and an infant son, Edward J. Parker III.
He leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life for 25 years, Doris Ann Sessoms; one daughter, Kimberly Felders (Morris); a son, Edwin Dowling (Spring); his honorary children, Anthony Pitchford (Dale) and Tamara Perry; three sisters, Helen Parker Willis, Ruth Roberts, and Bertha Jones; three brothers, William L. Parker, Robert L. Parker, and John E. Parker; one brother-in-law, Bishop Theodore Hilliard, Jr.; one aunt, Bernice Lassiter; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, 12 nieces, 15 great nieces, 13 nephews, 19 great nephews, and a host of family and friends.
WE WILL ALL MISS HIM!!
Viewing will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, from 2 pm to 5 pm at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23704. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019, 12 noon at New Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 1000 County Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, 1101 Campostella Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23320.
