Due to the recent increase in COVID19 cases, the governor of Virginia has established guidelines to reduce the spread of this pandemic virus. In an effort to keep our families, staff and facilities safe we are asking that all visitors comply with the following directives:
** If you are experiencing a cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not enter the funeral home at any time
** Chapel and church services are open to the public; however, MASKS ARE REQUIRED, per Governor’s Executive Order #79 effective May 28, 2021
Deacon Dorothy M. Moore, 89, peacefully transitioned from her Christian labor to reward on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in her Portsmouth, VA. home. Affectionately known as “Deacon Dottie”, she was born January 7, 1932 to the late Wilbur and Mandy Miller in Union County, SC. She worked for many years as an Autovon operator for the U.S. Navy.
Dorothy accepted Christ at a very age and was baptized at Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church, Buffalo, SC. She joined Queen Street Baptist Church, Norfolk in 1972 and was ordained as a deacon in July 2002. Throughout her years at QSBC, she was extremely active in several ministries, but was probably best known in the Culinary Ministry. Deacon Dottie served as head cook and supervisor of the congregation’s Culinary Ministry and was instrumental in establishing it as a preferred dining venue for local churches and organizations desiring delicious soul food “served with love.”
She is survived by her husband Elder Linfred Moore, son – William Linfred; granddaughter -Kyani Skinner; great- grandchildren – Juellz and Dashani; sister – Mattie Lide, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
