Colister Marie Bullock, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and loyal friend was born June 12, 1955, and gained her heavily reward on August 8, 2020. Colister was the second of nine children born to the late Therlbert “Mac” and Carliece Dancy. Colister’s love and desire to take care of people was developed and nurtured by her parents on Wool Ave in Portsmouth, VA. The Dancy house was always full of family, friends and anyone that needed love and support. This need to love and take care of people led Colister to a career in nursing, from which she retired after 30 plus years of service to those who could not advocate or care for themselves. Colister lived life her way, she was concerned for everyone and loved taking care of people as best she could. If she had it, it was yours without a second thought. She was full of life and had a smile that was infectious and unforgettable.
Colister loved the Lord with all her heart and walked with Christ throughout her journey here on earth. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA. Colister loved her family, she was a dedicated wife to Steve and mother to her three boys LaMonte, Steve Jr. (Peenee) and Corri. She created a supportive and loving home that was always “company ready,” and looked like it could’ve been featured on her favorite TV Network HGTV, which was always on. She was so proud of her boys and doted on them from birth through adulthood. As they became parents, she extended her heart and did the same and more for her grandchildren. She worked tireless to ensure everyone had what they needed. Loving with a smile was so natural to her.
Colister’s spirt and love of people and life is what she will be remembered for. She had an infectious spirit and a smile that drove people to her from all facets of life. Colister was preceded in death by her parents Therlbert and Carliece Dancy, sister Tina Caine and brother Jeffery Dancy. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of over 45 years, Steward Steve Bullock. Three sons, LaMonte Bullock, Steve Bullock Jr. (Peenee) and Corri Bullock. A son and daughter in law, Wayne and Tamara Bullock. Seven grandchildren, Corri Brown, Olivia Bullock, Morgan Bullock, Steve Mason Bullock III, JayShaun Hines, JaCorri Bullock and Ryan Price. Six siblings, Vanessa Farmer, Sharon Hardy, Vicky Greenaway, Cindy Dancy, Debbie Dancy and Ricky Dancy. Best friends, Juanita Brown and Brenda Warren. And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relative and great friends.
