Cathleen Dancy-Williams answered the Lords call on June 14, 2022, arriving at heaven’s gates where every day is Sunday and roses never fade. Cathleen was the daughter of the late Benjamin Dancy Sr. and Mary Ann Dancy. She was born on May 27, 1957, in Portsmouth Virginia. She attended Portsmouth Public Schools where she graduated from I.C. Norcom High School. She went on to attend Hampton University where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and earned a degree in accounting.

Cathleen was a fashionista and began her professional career at Rice’s Nachman.  She later worked for AT&T for over 10 years and maintained a professional real estate career for Century 21. She later transitioned to the transportation industry as a taxi driver for Safeway and soon formed her private cab company, Classy Cats. Cathleen was a Minister for many years at Abundant Life Christian Church. There she taught many Bible classes and dedicated her ministry to service of the Youth and Christian Education. In her later years, she joined Third Baptist Church.

Aunt Cat was a wonderful aunt and a phenomenal woman who wore many hats. She was a great sister, a caring daughter, a praying powerhouse, a spiritual warrior, the family accountant, privileged confidence, and the list can go on forever. You fill in what she was to you! She cared for everyone’s children with the same level of love and never met a baby she didn’t want to kiss all over. Cathleen was a collector of people and never met a stranger. If she was home, you were welcomed to dinner and if she had it and you needed it, it was as good as yours.

Her love for God and good music were passed down to all her nieces and nephews. Cathleen definitely left an impression on everyone she came in contact with. She was the type of woman who would not let you walk around with lipstick on your teeth or your slip showing. She loved the Lord with her heart and soul and willingly went into her savior’s arms.

Grateful to have known her and left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert Williams; brother James Dancy (LaTonia); sister Mary McCall (Feral); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives whom she loved dearly; and all of “Cat’s kids”. She is predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Mary Ann Dancy, and brother’s Benjamin Jr, Lathan, Melvin, Thomas, and Frank Dancy; and sister Velma Dancy.
