Catherine Harris Bowser, “Miss Diddy,” age 105, departed this life on February 26, 2018. She retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 25 years of service as a blueprint operator. She was a life time member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA before her health declined. Catherine was a resident of Heritage Hall Virginia Beach since 2009, where she was also crowned Valentine Queen in 2010. She loved worship services held at Heritage Hall as well as singing and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard M. Bowser, Sr., and son, Willard M. Bowser, Jr. (Big Moon)
Catherine is survived by: her daughter-in-law, Mary Bowser Lovett of Virginia Beach, VA; grandson, Scott McDaniel Bowser of Williamsburg, VA; sister-in-law, Elderes Dr. Rachel O. Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the entire staff of Heritage Hall Nursing for the excellent care that they provided.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018, 11 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 3310 Deep Creek Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23702. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
