Carolise received her education from I.C. Norcom High School. There she was a part of a
trio called The Sweethearts of Norcom High. Carolise was blessed with a beautiful alto voice. She
sang with her classmates, one being former actress/ singer, Ruth Brown, and became a local hit.
Their stardom led them to performing in New York City. Carolise would graduate high school in
1944. She then worked in the Portsmouth County School System and soon after as a laundry
attendant. Carolise had a heart for serving others. This desire to care for people led her to begin a
career as a nurse’s aide. Carolise spent many years caring for the elderly in their homes until retiring
to care for her mother.
Carolise, in her youth, was a member of Emanuel A.M.E Church in Portsmouth, VA. She
worshiped with her children in the very church she was brought up attending. At the time of her
passing, Carolise, was a beloved member of the New Creation Community Church in Norfolk, VA.
She also attended Sentara P.A.C.E Churchland, a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, for 3
years where she was cared for and loved. Carolise was a child of God and a true, devout follower of
Christ. She had a kindred spirit, full of care, with a heart as beautiful as her smile. Carolise had a
way of making everyone fall head over heels with her charm and grace.
Carolise is survived by her remaining children; Ronald L. Nottingham (Ethel), Carolyn E.
Green (Thomas), Christina Boykin, and Regina A. Dickinson (Donald). She also leaves behind 15
grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, many cousins, and a host of friends. Carolise was loved
deeply by Triune God and she shared that love with all of us by His Holy Spirit.

21st, at 2:00pm.
