Carla Jeanette (Jones) Sehbani was the epitome of life’s tour guide. She took us on adventures. Each and every one of us. Born on April 17, 1980, our beloved Carla departed her earthly journey to shine among the heavenly angels on July 23, 2021. Carla had a passion for life. She appreciated art, culture, and the finer things in life. You could always find her wearing her signature pearls. Carla nurtured her passions at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts studying art history and went on to work for art galleries in Washington, D.C. She opened her heart and mind to new experiences and places across the globe. Her passport reflects her love of travel, marking trips to Italy and Morocco. Charismatic, vibrant, and bright. You could often witness her love for people by how she engaged with others from all walks of life – sharing her joyous laughter, bringing light. A magical storyteller, transporting you to live her experiences.
In her childhood home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, her mother, LaVerne Carey Jones and grandparents Solomon and Jeanette Carey, filled her home with the love of God, the importance of family, and a glorious sense of humor. Throughout her life, Carla carried a special place in her heart for the elderly, born from the love of her grandparents. Carla’s spiritual foundation, led her to lean on her coined phrase, “I trust God.” She made it her purpose to find God in the midst of it all.
Carla was preceded in death by her mother S.E. LaVerne Carey Jones. Carla leaves to cherish her memory her father, Carl Jones; her aunts and uncles; (Solomon Carey Jr (Sandra), Wendelin Henry (Philip), Sabrina Johnson, Aaron Carey (Marcia), Sharon Johnson (Marcus) and Delzorra Preshae; her cousin siblings; Kia, Marcus, Gabrielle, Rena, Jenai, Ronald, Saunder, and Eleazar, eight little cousins and a host of loving family, saints and friends.
