Calvin C. Johnson, age 35, died at his home in Portsmouth, Virginia, on Monday, June 19, 2023.He was
born on April 17, 1988, in Norfolk, Virginia to Lisa Johnson and Calvin Lagway. He resided in the city
Portsmouth, Virginia most of his life. He started his career in hospitality working at Red Lobster in North
Carolina and later relocated back to Virginia where he continued working as a server/bartender for several
years. Upon his death, he was very excited to accept a position and explore an opportunity of working as
a tradesman in the Shipyard. He was also an entrepreneur by nature, who enjoyed health and fitness. He
successfully started his journey as a fitness trainer, teaching many people in the community the
importance of learning to eat appropriately, look and feel better to live healthier lives. He also enjoyed
being a father and spending time with his children. Although he knew he was not perfect, he never gave
up wanting to be the best father he could be. He had a beautiful smile and personality that was
mesmerizing to all who crossed his path. "He considered himself to be a ladies’ man" and that he was.
"We are going to miss you dearly, until we meet again."
Calvin is proceeded in death by Earline Johnson (maternal grandmother), Samuel Johnson (Great
Grandfather), Joe Johnson (Uncle), Willie Johnson (Uncle)
Calvin is survived by his children- Khalil Johnson (oldest son of Crystal Cleckley), Kiante Johnson
(youngest son of Crystal Cleckley), Carter (daughter of Kennedy), Lisa Johnson (Mother), Calvin
Lagway(father), Keishera Johnson (Sister), Uncles-Larry Johnson (wife Silina Johnson), William
Johnson, Aunt- Ashea Johnson (Husband Alvin) and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, close friends, co-
workers.
