A much-loved mother, grandmother and sister, Beatrice (Bea) Robinson, daughter of the late Sandy and Lillian Stephens passed away peacefully at the Portside Health and Rehab Center in Portsmouth, Virginia on July 31, 2020.  She was born April 28, 1927 in Southampton County, Virginia and resided with her daughter, Lillian Cox (Jeff) in Portsmouth, Virginia prior to her recent move to the Portside Health and Rehab Center.  Bea attended school in Southampton County, Virginia and later trained as a Nursing Assistant.  She worked at Maryview Hospital and various nursing homes in the community and later performed housework for various families whom she also considered part of her family.  Bea accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia until her health started to fail.  She dearly loved God; loved worshiping at this church; and considered it her church home.

Bea enjoyed visiting with family and friends.  She loved gardening and planting beautiful flowers and watching them grow.  She was a great cook and had the warmest smile that could melt your heart.  She was always happy to have visitors and would laugh and tell stories about her life growing up on the farm in Southampton County, Virginia.  Bea was very energetic; could move fast; and sometimes we had to move quickly to keep up with her while walking.  Her fondest memories were time spent with family, her first airplane ride to New Orleans when she was in her 80s, her first manicure and pedicure, and her trip to Mexico for her granddaughter’s wedding.

She is preceded in death by her son (Harry Lee Watson, Jr.) and her daughter (Theresa Taylor). She is survived by her brother, Jessie Lee Stephens of Drewryville, Virginia; eight children, James D. Stephens, Emporia, Virginia; Helen L. Gant (Kenneth), Waldorf, Maryland; Harriett Watson,  Keleather Toler (Tyrone), Lillian Cox (Jeff), Harold Watson, Harvey Lee Watson, and Idora Watson, all of Portsmouth, Virginia and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She would want all to remember: “So with you:  Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. Amen.”  John 16:22
