On Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m,, our Heavenly Father called our precious mother, grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend, BAYLEAS DOLES SHORT, home to her eternal rest.  At her request, her family was by her side.  Bayleas was born on November 15, 1933 in Courtland, Virginia to the late Johnny and Murdie Doles, and was the youngest of seven children.

Bayleas leaves to cherish her memories a son, Raymond McClenny Jr. (Toni) of Chester, VA and a daughter, Felecia McClenny of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Raymond III, Ian, Erin and Taylor McClenny; two sisters, Barbara Washington and Johnann Perry; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Doles and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bayleas was a “people” person and enjoyed entertaining in her home and was known for her wonderful home cooked meals.  She found joy in family gatherings for holidays, but especially on Christmas day.  She was a wonderful listener and counselor to a multitude of people.  She had a deep faith in God, which was demonstrated by her willingness to share and care for others who may have been in need.

She worked in the banking industry for many years, and was loved and adored by her Towne Bank family.  They could look forward to her preparing smothered pork chops and her special succotash for celebrations at the Churchland Branch.  She enjoyed the biannual shopping sprees and attending functions with her co-workers

Bayleas’ faith in God’s word was demonstrated by her deeds and the way she lived her life as an example for others.  Her beautiful smile was contagious and it made everyone around her feel special

Her caring spirit encouraged the adoption of families that are close to our hearts.  She loved and provided emotional support to the Butts, Sullivan and Vo families.

A memorial service for Bayleas will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, 1 pm at St. Mark Deliverance  Center,  3801 Turnpike Rd., Portsmouth, VA 23701.
