Arthur L. Dunston Sr., 63, received his wings on October 3, 2017. A native of Portsmouth, VA, he was born on April 22, 1954 to the late Arthur and Virginia Dunston. He was a graduate of I.C. Norcom Class of 73. He served in the U.S. Army. Arthur was a member of American Legion Post 190. He was employed by NNSY as a Security Officer for over 30 years and also served as Union President for Local 452. Arthur was ordained a Deacon of New Bethel Baptist Church on November 2, 2008, where he was an active member of the Male Usher Board, Male Choir, Security Ministry, Transportation Ministry, and a host of other ministries.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Dunston, sister Bonnell Jones, one brother Arthur Dunston, and son Arthur L. Dunston Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Nina and Anthony Dunston, Tawanda Bass (Aaron); grandchildren Aarion, Ahmir, and Trinity; four sisters Betty Diggs, Maxine Williams, Althea Hawkins, and Rebecca Shearin; two brothers Barry and Danny Dunston; and a host of other loved ones and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, 12:30 pm at New Bethel Baptist Church, 4212 Greenwood Dr., Portsmouth, VA 23701. Viewing will be held on Monday, October 9th from 12 Noon to 8 pm and the family will also receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home.
