Annie Mae Boone Binford, 74, affectionately known as Baby Sis, went to be with the Lord on
resurrection Sunday, April 21, 2019.  She was born December 10, 1944 in Suffolk, the fifth child, to the late Ollie C. Boone, Sr. and Emma Cobb Boone.

 

She was a graduate of East Suffolk High School and Norfolk State University. Annie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and began her Christian development at New Hope Baptist Church, Pughsville where she was active in the Sunday school union and missionary choir. She began her teaching career in the Suffolk County Public School System in Brentwood, New York. There she served as a mathematics and business education teacher for over 30 years. Annie was a dedicated instructor who loved and nurtured her students and received many awards for her outstanding performance.

 

Annie served faithfully as a member, trustee, and treasurer at Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Long Island, New York. After the passing of her beloved husband Bobby Binford, she relocated to Virginia in 2014 and reunited with New Hope Baptist Church serving as a missionary, assistant Sunday School teacher for the women’s class, and assistant chairman of the Christian Board of Education. Annie was selfless, dedicated, and devoted to her family. She exemplified the love of Christ and was a tremendous Blessing to so many people in so many ways!!

 

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters Etta L. Pittman, and Marion E. Gist and one brother Raymond Boone, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories, bothers Ollie C. Boone, Jr., Melvin L. Boone, Sr. (Paula), and Hollis L. Boone, Sr. (Ann); sisters E. Marie Jones (Dwight), Diane L. Boone-Foster (Nathan), and L. Lorraine Johnson (Joseph), one aunt Mrs. Viola Cobb and a host of nieces, nephews, two special daughters, cousins, relatives and friends who all love her dearly.

 

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, from 12 noon to 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 1 pm at New Hope Baptist Church Pughsville, 4260 Pughsville Rd., Suffolk, VA  23435.  Interment will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
