On March 2, 2017, our Father came down from Heaven and took the hand of our beloved, Angela Renee’ Simmons. She quietly passed away with her family by her side. Angela was born to Juanita Turner Gay and the late William Turner on October 7, 1963 in Norfolk, VA. Preceding her in death was her step-father Chester Gay Jr. She resided in Portsmouth, VA. Angela attended Grace Entwine Ministry. She attended Manor High School and was part of the graduating class of 1982. Angela worked at London Fog, Roses, Lifetouch, and Jenson Activewear.
Angela leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 34 years, Julius Earl Simmons of Portsmouth, VA; one son Julius Earl Simmons Jr. of Portsmouth, VA; one daughter Jasmine Nicole Simmons of Portsmouth, VA; her mother Juanita Turner Gay of Portsmouth, VA; one brother Chester Gay III, of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters Carla Yvette Gay of Portsmouth, VA and Yolanda Gay-Hunter (Corey) of Suffolk, VA, four grandchildren Jaki, Davion, Leah, and Jada; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday March 9, 2017 at New Light Baptist Church located at 2418 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23323. There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 12-8 P.M. at Corprew Funeral Home located at 1822 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23704.
